Who created Jam Up!?
Jam Up! has been created with children and young people with additional needs (including neurodiversity), their parents/carers, and professionals. Our content has been developed by healthcare and education specialists, including:
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech and language therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Educational psychologists
  • SEN specialist teachers

Yes.

We have carried out a wide range of user testing, including:

  • A large trial with the National Autistic Society
  • Pilot projects in schools, a GP surgery, and the Essex Care Tech Challenge
  • Feedback from focus groups, interviews, and over 100 survey responses

We are also running larger research studies and collect anonymous feedback from families using the app.

Yes—user feedback is central to Jam Up!

For example, we have:

  • Increased font size and improved colour contrast
  • Added visual and audio support
  • Introduced a screen reader for accessibility
  • Expanded the virtual wardrobe (e.g. period pants, crocs, pull-ups, themed items)

We continue to update the app based on what families tell us.

Yes.

Jam Up! has:

  • Met NHS DTAC standards
  • Passed ORCHA review standards
  • Received a Kitemark from the National Autistic Society

Yes.

Jam Up! is supported by organisations such as:

It has also been featured in resources from the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry.

Jam Up! has been assessed for clinical safety following NHS standards (DCB0129).

We are also carrying out ongoing research to understand how effective Jam Up! is for families.

Parents and carers should decide if their child can use the app independently.

What does Jam Up! do?

– Helps children with additional needs aged 5–14 complete everyday tasks through digital play.

– Offers customisable tasks to ensure children can be supported whilst keeping to their usual routine.

– Provides educational videos and daily tips enabling parents / carers to promote their child’s independence.
