My Internship Experience with Jam Up!

Hi, I’m Candela Perez Castellanos, a psychology student at Warren Wilson College 👋. Thanks to Virtual Internships, I had the opportunity to complete a placement with Jam Up!, a digital app created by Spectrum Tailored Technologies to support autistic children with their daily routines.

During my internship, I was involved in a range of exciting projects, including:
🎒 Contributing to the development of the new “Pack Your Bag” task for Jam Up!
📧 Designing and distributing surveys, then analysing and summarising the responses
🎤 Interviewing mental health professionals, parents, and autistic children to gather valuable insights
💡 Expanding my knowledge of autism, neurodiversity, ARFID, comorbidities, and the stigma autistic people and families often face
💻 Gaining hands-on experience in technology, app development, and digital health

This internship was an incredible opportunity that helped me grow both personally and professionally. It not only strengthened my skills but also deepened my understanding of autism and reinforced my passion for supporting others.
