Jam Up! Providing digital tools to empower autistic children with everyday tasks – like getting dressed.
Jam Up! was created to help make daily life better for families. We believe that Jam Up! is so successful with our early users because it has been built around our three beliefs:
Kids have the best ideas and their parents / carers have real experience – they should be at the forefront of everything we do.
Jam Up! has been created using what we have called a kid-co-development approach. This means autistic children and their parents / carers have been involved in development of the app on every step of our journey.
This has helped us to ensure Jam Up! is exciting and engaging – because lets face it, everyday tasks can be boring, frustrating, uncomfortable and feel pointless.
Everyone is welcome in our world. Kids have unlimited potential and should be empowered to reach for the stars!
We want to ensure that families can make the most of their time together. Our ethos is the more we can support autistic children’s needs, the more energy they can put into their superpowers!
We are keen to ensure that Jam Up! is as accessible and useable as we can make it – so it can be used by children and their parents and carers with diverse needs.
Implementing the latest knowledge and evidence-based practice into Jam Up! means we can make a real difference to families day to day lives.
Ensuring that parents / carers can get support when they need it most through our healthcare professional developed and delivered videos and daily top tips means that greater comprehension of children’s individual needs can be understood.
Jam Up! works by breaking down tasks into their component parts and using audio-visual modelling to support autistic children. Research in this field recognises that enabling autistic children to be more independent in everyday tasks increases well-being and benefits physical health – helping everyone life their best life!
“You can tell Jam Up! has been developed by people who really understand the needs of autistic children.” Diana, Parent of 7 year old autistic child.
“We all love Jam Up! Jam Up! is a tool which helps us all. Anything to help us through the day like this is amazing. It helps Maggie to self-regulate. It just makes things easier and fun!” Amy, parent of 8 year old autistic child
