Meet Elliot

The Need for Jam Up!

Elliot is 17 years old and lives with autism and Dravet Syndrome. He loves CBeebies, times tables, and Christmas. Because of his reduced fine motor skills and tendency to get distracted, he’s always needed help from his parents or respite carers with brushing his teeth.
When Elliot and his family tried Jam Up! as part of the National Autistic Society Kitemark trial, it quickly became a game-changer. Elliot loved the upbeat music and the clear, simple instructions that told him exactly where to move the toothbrush to and when to switch areas. The countdowns made it feel like a fun challenge (as he loves numbers) rather than a chore.
With the help of Jam Up! For the first time ever Elliot was able to brush his teeth independently.

Parent Feedback

“Jam Up! has been so positive for Elliot and our whole family, saving time in the mornings and stopping him from feeling rushed, reducing tension around getting ready for school transport”.

Guided Tooth Cleaning Support

Jam Up!’s engaging step-by-step tooth cleaning support helped Ellliot focus on the process of getting tooth cleaning, directing him where to move the toothbrush and when – stopping him getting distracted.

Count-down timers

Elliot loves numbers – the countdown timers made Elliot happy but also helped give him visual and audio support to support him with the tooth cleaning task

Ginger Cats

Elliot loves cats – so he enjoyed choosing a cat to help him complete the tooth-cleaning task. He did ask if we could create more cats as he would like a ginger one – Elliot you are not the first person to ask for this! We will try to do this soon!

More Independence – A Big Win for Everyone!

Elliot’s mum shared how pleased and proud she was with the independence progress Elliot has made with tooth cleaning – a task he has always had to have physical help with.
